A Special Offer for our Student Members

Part of good medication therapy management is providing doctors with recommendations on what drug, dose and dosage form is right for their patient.  But what do you recommend when commercially available products don’t “fit” with a particular patient’s needs?  The answer is simple – compounded preparations.  Pharmacists Although compounding has been a traditional part of pharmacy for centuries, it has seen a big resurgence in the past 20 years as more and more health care professionals recognize that customizing a product can lead to better adherence as well as more successful therapy outcomes.

The International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year.  IACP is a world-wide organization of pharmacists, technicians, and student pharmacists who exchange information about compounding practices.  With more than 2,100 practitioner members and 160,000 consumers, it’s the “go to” group for anything related to customized medication solutions.

Because you’re a student member of the South Dakota Pharmacists Association, you can also join IACP as a student member at no cost to you!  .  In addition to the free membership, IACP offers scholarships through its Foundation, assistance in finding preceptors who specialize in compounding patient services in both community and institutional settings, as well as a career center for support in finding employment upon graduation.

To take advantage of this free membership, go to this link IACP Student Membership and sign up today!  If you have any questions about compounding or about the benefits of being a student member, contact IACP’s Membership Team at membership@iacprx.org.
